"Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." - Thomas Edison
"Born: 11 February 1847
Died: 18 October 1931
It is difficult to imagine the modern world
without the contributions of Thomas Edison. Although Edison’s
inventions are well known and his place in history firmly established,
familiarity
with his work doesn’t lessen the awe inspired by it.
While many can lay claim to creative genius, few demonstrate
the remarkable breadth of Edison’s interests. Fewer still
demonstrate Edison’s business insight. His inventions,
coupled with a soup-to-nuts business approach, gave rise to
three major industries: recording, motion pictures, and electric
utilities...
Edison launched a flurry of creative and business activity that
earned him the nickname “The Wizard of Menlo Park.” His
first great invention (and, he once said, his favorite) was the
phonograph, the first device that could record and reproduce
sound...
The second of the Edison-created industries was that of electric
power generation and distribution. Edison developed practical
electrical lighting and, in essence, ushered in the electrical
age...
In the 1890s Edison began working on motion picture technology,
and in the process created a third industry. " - Excerpt from IEEE
Virtual Museum
Edison was well-known for his eccentric habits of cat-napping
in his laboratory, often arising with new creative insights to
the problem at hand. Although we tend to attribute creativity
to the realm of artists, writers, and other imaginative people,
Edison exemplifies the creative genius at work. All of the same
techniques that a writer uses to unleash their inner creativity
not only enhances an artist's life but life for all people,
no matter what path we choose. By opening to our creative joy,
our life becomes more spontaneous, more playful, and happier,
not to mention the impact it can have on our society. It behooves
everyone, not just the artist, the find their own "Artist's Way."

Beyond The Dream
Polarity Therapy is a form of energetic healing
that seeks to open the blocked areas by "inviting" the energy
to move. To a fundamentalist christian it may seem like the practice
called "laying on of hands" or "smiting with the spirit" whereby
the Spirit of God heals the individual. In Polarity Therapy,
the Divine is the healing force but the client is the the actual
healer. They are the ones that will choose to either allow or
disallow the healing process to take place.
Many times a client can come in experiencing frustration,
anger, depression, or other conflicting issues. It is all the
same story. Energy is being blocked. The natural state of man
is health. The natural flow of energy is always free flow. It
is man that blocks this inner Divine abundance, creating dis-ease,
through belief systems and attitudes.
In polarity, one of the first things we do is still
our own inner Spirit so we can listen to the Spirit of our client.
We actively engage their energy through the central nervous core
called the Sushuma. We do so only at the client's request. It
is important to honor each individual's sacred space. We go as
far as we are invited and in return we invite their energy forward
to meet ours. We all have a lovely beat. A lovely energy signature.
For many clients,
this
inner
merging
of Spirit
can
be very intimate and caring.
It is the healing practictioner's job to pinpoint
the blocks in the energy currents and invite them to open. We
never force the energy. Why? The simple truth is that the block
would not exist had the client not needed this restriction in
their own flow for thier own inner purposes. They alone know
why the block exists and the proper time to allow it open. The
healing practicioner understands that and that is why there is
no judgment on these energetic blocks. There is no desire to
force a healing. Polarity Therapists aren't there to exorcise
anything. We merely connect and invite the energy to open. Since
free flow
is the natural state of man, often a simple loving and non-judgmental
invitation is all that is necessary to provoke a healing catharsis.
Being "in the flow" is a wonderful experience.
It is the act of creative passion in movement. It can't be forced,
it can only be allowed and experienced, much like a runner's
high. To curse the blocks in our own flow, is to curse our very
Self.
It shall
have the opposite effect by instigating new restrictions in flow.
Self-acceptance is the key to creative joy. We accept our creations,
whether we deem them good or bad, and understand that we create
for the pure joy of creation. It matters not if it isn't exactly
what we had planned. It is all good.
