Theme For Volume 18
of Ray Nascent:
Spring always seems to start a little early
here in the South. The temperatures have caused the daffodils
and
dogwoods
to bloom even though there is a potential for more frosty,
chilly weather. But, who can stop the seasons or the moods
of the weather? They are part of a creative cycle. They are
a feminine form of creation whereby nothing is forced but all
is allowed to happen in due time. We are so caught up in the
actual physical result of creation that sometimes we miss the
glory of the moment of conception. Like spring,
creations can creep
up
upon us
unnoticed
until the entire countryside is filled with daffodils and we
are astounded by the seeming spontaneity of the event! The
objective imagery of our creations, like the daffodils, are
but a step in the creation cycle. It is not the full process.
The
process
begins
within
as we tap into our own creative genius, the creative energy
that flows through us and throughout all of creation. In this
issue of Ray Nascent, I will meander down the creative path
of the
artist's
way exploring
and discovering
the issues in reclaiming our creative joy in whatever form
it takes.

Duality Trap: Creative Blocks
I'm writing a book on the creative process. It's
funny but we tend to think of the process of conception as being
a male activity. The man must inseminate the woman in order to
produce an offspring, a creation. But, all of creation follows
a strict format to the creation pattern. It all begins with the
female. Without the dormant potential of the female, the male's
seed would have no effect on its environment. The two energies
engaged in sexuality also are the energies engaged in creation.
So, what happens when we block our own inner male, or our own
inner female from expressing itself? We block the flow of passion,
the flow of creative joy in our own lives. The result is conflict
in our personal relationships, our objective imagery, and our
internal desires.
Sometimes these blocks are hard to pinpoint. We
are used to focusing on the male creation aspect of action, that
our own inner feminine wellspring of creative intution becomes
dry. We think that by doing things, we will be more productivity,
be more efficient, and things will run well. This does work for
a time but the hidden need for communication and interrelationship
that requires intimacy for a proper blending of energies is ignored.
The resulting creation feels like a violent and thoughtless act
instead of a caring and nurturing one.
Similarly, if we focus on the inner intuitive aspect of the creative
muse, we will lack the impetus to produce a physical manifestation
of our subjective dreams.
The feminine and the masculine energies both need to be honored
in the creative cycle. They provide balance and harmony in a world
of duality. In all of this, we need to honor Self above all. We
need to understand who we are and what our preferences lean towards.
We need to allow our creations to speak to us without fear of judgment.
Then, we can look at a situation and take an approach that doesn't
insist
on
its
way
but
instead
seeks
the
joy
of the
creative
dance.
By paying attention to how we relate to others, what types of
creations we are currently birthing, then we can understand whether
there is an imbalance in our own energetic nature. Maybe we are
too feminine in our approach? Maybe too masculine? Maybe we are
not being accepting of ourselves and others? Maybe we do not trust
our own creations? These elements all have an impact on our creative
abilities and can generate blocks in the creative process. By paying
attention to how we create and what we are creating, we can seek
to allow the free flow of energy to remain uninterrupted, like
a little river that bubbles merrily down its banks with sufficient
water to get by even the biggest of obstacles.
