3 Guru Corner Theme For Volume I of Ray Nascent: Creating our own reality is a popular New Age theme. Prosperity
teachings abound on how we are entitled to be abundant in all
things, if we just understood how to work the laws of God for
our own benefit. There are workshops and books galore whose sole
purpose is to help us manifest our dreams into reality. It is
almost a quasi-scientific, metaphysical pursuit to discover the
laws by which we create that which we want in our lives. But,
who is doing the wanting and how do we know whether it is in
our highest spiritual good to manifest these things? Manifesting
our dreams is our birthright, our entitlement, but what dreams
are we creating and which should take center stage in our lives?

Duality Trap: Entitlement
I have a friend who is a Leo. I have had to research what a
Leo is, because he believes this aspect of his personality defines
who he is. Leos are the manifestors of power in the 3-D universe.
They seek to wield power. They seek to build empires. They know
how to do this because they have a keen understanding of the
laws of concentration, focus, drive, and ambition. They also
possess magnetic personalities that can bring others into a cohesive
unit to manifest the dream they are envisioning. Leos are driving
forces that know how to put all the karmic forces together to
work for them.
My friend was very excited to learn I was a Capricorn. It was
the perfect business complement to his energy, he informed
me. I was entitled to good business karma, and he was entitled
to
glory. It was a match made in commerce heaven. With both our
entitlements, we could easily dominate whatever business we
wanted to pursue for personal gain. I found myself agreeing
with him.
I had a dream this morning. In it, Amma, a spiritual teacher,
came to me and invited me on a walk. We were walking from an
ocean-side beach, up a steep hill that had a winding path that
led to her ashram. Amma walked behind me. I took a step forward
and immediately, a piece of Amma’s present life flashed
through my being, and I and her experienced it as one. I took
another step, and another experience flooded my being, but this
time it was from one of Amma’s past lives. This went on
and on as I endured the most heart-breaking set of lives I could
ever imagine. My heart burst and I was bathed in my own tears.
Amma just kept walking behind me, nodding in agreement: “Yes,” she
seemed to murmur to my heart,”It’s a trail of tears.”
Finally, we reached her ashram and I exclaimed: “I can
not believe that anyone could have such a miserable set of lives!”
She smiled sweetly, and told me: “It’s time to eat.” She
led me to a hall where a long white table stood at knee’s
height. We sat on the floor together as she brought out a single
plate of food and placed it in front of me. To my complete astonishment,
her dark-brown, work-strained, hands reached down to pull a morsel
of rice together only to be lifted to my lips. The injustice
of the moment stung sharply in contrast to the sweet morsels
of love-soaked rice which delighted me.
“
When does she get to eat?” I thought. “When does
she get her due? And why feed me? I haven’t done a thing
to merit this.”
Then I woke up and wondered about a world where we felt no
sense of entitlement, only love and devotion.
