Review: Catherine digs deep into her own psyche to bring out that which she has hidden from herself. By doing so, her work whispers the secrets that we all hide within our Self. In her labyrinth paintings, she winds through the maze of emotion and mind to illuminate a mystery, but in such a manner that the conscious mind can accept that which is hidden deep in the subconscious. Her SpiritBloom Pendants range from geometric figures to nature echoes of life. Her work portrays many of the themes of sacred geometry in terms of the golden phi ratio and the holographic and repetitive nature of life. And in walking the path of a repetitive pattern, the labyrinth, we find order and bring the sacred forth from chaos.
The impetus for this creative fountain was found in a dream, as she describes, wherein a spider trapped her in its web. The spider web is symbolic of the geometric foundation of life and the links of consciousness which nebulously hold this reality together. Was she trapped by the spider or did Catherine go willingly? Was it meant as a torture or an awakening. The symbols in Catherine's life are hauntingly beautiful and so is her art work as an expression of her higher Self.

"Several years ago, I discovered the labyrinth to be a powerful symbol, resource and tool for spiritual and emotional healing. This discovery came at a precarious time as I grasped for all 'lifelines.' The labyrinth was revealed to me in the form of a nightmare as I was captured by a black widow spider that took me to her web where I was tortured and tormented. My spider dream, as interpreted by a Jungian psychologist, was revealed symbolically to be a classic mandala dream. This became the pivotal moment that began my intrigue and involvement with the creation of mandalas (Sanskrit word for circle) and labyrinths. .
The inspiration for expressing and painting labyrinth images as art forms evolved from a deep core understanding within a spiritual, psychological and social context. The use and choice of color has a major impact on these paintings as well as the contrasting and complimentary center symbols. I gather inspiration from the color variations found in nature and intuit the emotional energies of myself and others; apply various painting and crafting techniques (using different papers, paints and inks), an application of a labyrinth image to the papers and finishing with a unique center.
The labyrinth, as an ancient symbol, gives us the opportunity to uncover deep spiritual and significant meaning in ways that speak to us on an individual basis. Placing one of these unique designs on your wall, mantle or tabletop brings the symbol alive and thus constantly present in our lives, ready for contemplation." - Excerpt From Labyrinth4You brochure.
