Lucid Dreaming

Prior to Stephen LaBerge's sleep laboratory experiments, science and psychology denied the possibility of being able to be conscious during one's dreams. Dr. LaBerge pioneered a study that basically proved this assumption false by finding the means to communicate directly with the dreamer while they slept in the laboratory. During sleep, most of the body is paralyzed and thus speech and movement is usually suppressed. However, the eyes remain mobile as they move in a particular pattern during REM sleep indicating the sleeper is dreaming. Dr. LaBerge surmised that if one could "signal" with the eyes a specific signal upon becoming "lucid" during a dream and this coincided with the initiation of REM as confirmed by sleep lab equipment then we would have "proof" that in effect the dreamer was asleep and they also KNEW they were dreaming. This is what in fact occurred and from there Dr. LaBerge went on to study many more aspects of lucid dreaming. A trip to the Lucidity Institute can help a person review some of their findings.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy is based on the ancient teachings that the body has a magnetic field that can be influenced by a variety of factors: other people's magnetic fields, environment, emotions, thoughts, food and more. Following the mapping of metaphysical currents along the body, one can manipulate the energy to stimulate and balance the body's magnetic field. So, I think the question is not: Is polarity therapy valid? The question is: Is there such a thing as a magnetic blueprint of the human body and are these so-called points along the body really affecting the systems they claim to affect? Oddly enough, there is scientific evidence that corroborates this theory.

Korea-born physicist Zang-Hee Cho, led a study to determine if certain points along the body used during acupuncture really had an effect on the appropriate physical system they were targeting. His study was rather clever in that he realized that when a particular system in the body is affected the brain registers this by having that brain area "light up" during an MRI scan. This is how different areas of the brain can be mapped to different functions in the body. Thus, Cho surmised, that if he stuck someone in an MRI and then performed acupuncture on a spot on the body corresponding to the eyes, that the center for sight should light up in the brain. In essence, this is exactly what happened, thus proving that, at least as far as your brain is concerned, even a point on your foot can correspond energetically to your eyes. The brain showed the exact same response to the acupuncture point on the foot as shining a bright light in the patient's eyes did. Read about his study in Discover magazine dated September 1998.

Consciousness

Consciousness is more related to the "quasi-scientific" field of psychology, one would think. However, there is at least one Stanford professor who managed to bring it into the laboratory to test the effects of consciousness on machinery. More on this section to come later.

The Universe as a Hologram

In 1982 physicists Alain Aspect, Jean Dalibard and Gerard Roger of the Institute of Optics at the University of Paris, conducted an experiment that proved conclusively that there are elements of nonlocal communication between two individual and separate photons that supports the theory of universal interconnectedness. In their experiment, they produced a series of twin photons by heating calcium atoms with lasers. They then allowed each photon to travel in opposite directions through 6.5 meters of pipe and pass through special filters that directed them toward one of two possible polarization analyzers. As quantum theory predicted, in defiance of Einstein's certaintly that this was impossible, the two photons had identical angles of polarization, meaning they behaved "as one" even though they were two separate and unique photons.
